Presentation: Bring back the Pollinators

Our desert pollinators are both important and fascinating! Without all the different invertebrates that share this unique ecosystem with us, we would not have the habitat, birds, and wildlife that we so enjoy observing together. The Xerces Society is a science-based non-profit organization with the world’s largest team of conservationists dedicated to protecting invertebrates including pollinators. Bees and other pollinators touch our lives every day in ways we may not realize. They are responsible for as much as one third of the food and drinks that we consume, and an important food source for our birds. Learn more about our amazing native bees in Las Vegas including: how their life cycles differ from honey bees, how this informs their habitat needs, conservation concerns, and what we can do as a community to provide them with pollinator-friendly habitat (that will benefit our birds too!).
Jacqui is an Environmental Interpreter, Naturalist and Artists using the creative arts and our natural world to educate and connect with children, their families and teachers. She believes connection to our natural world is key to inspire people to be better stewards and protect and conserve the world that we rely on for physical and emotional survival. She is a Xerces Society Ambassador, Nevada Naturalist, California Naturalist, UC Climate Steward, Drama Therapist and acting Director of the NAI's Western region with a passion for community science projects, especially in the field of pollinators.
