Join us for a 2 day trip to Southern Utah. We will be birding along the Kolob Terrace Rd. in Virgin, UT.  See the beautiful sights and birds of Zion without the crowds!  Our local expert is Paul Hicks who is with Red Cliffs Audubon.

Day 1 Kolob Terrace Rd.

We will drive and hike along the Kolob Terrace Rd in Virgin, UT.  Paul Hicks will lead us off-road along the Kolob Terrace Rd.  (not to be confused with Kolob Terrace in Zion Canyon NP).  We will meet at the Fairfield Inn at 7:30 am, at the start of the Kolob Terrace Rd. The walk along the Kolob Terrace Road will include walking into the woods, meadows and to scenic overlooks.  There may not be any trails so sturdy shoes are recommended.  We will spend the day birding in this area and hope to see 60-70 species, possibly even condors.

Day 2 Grafton

Grafton was once a small settlement, now abandoned.  We will be birding along the road, which offers both desert habitat and farmland.  There is an old cemetary where early settlers are buried and some restored building from the early settlement.  This will be about  3-4 hours, taking up the morning.

The rest of the day is open.  If people are interested, Zion NP is very close as well as other areas of interest.

The $30 fee will cover Paul's expenses and other incidentals.  Participants are responsible for hotels and meals. The confirmation email will contain information about hotels and other logistics. Be aware that Utah is in Mountain Time, 1 hour time difference.
