During the month of July Clark County Wetlands Park visitors were treated to a display of stunning photographs from the 2018 Audubon Photography Award winners. The exhibit sponsored by Red Rock Audubon featured photographs taken by amateurs, youths and professionals. Each photograph was accompanied by a description by the photographer, completing the story of the bird and photographer. What could go wrong while wearing your waders approaching a Wood Duck in a frigid pond during a light snow? How does a huge Great Gray Owl balance itself on a tiny branch? The exhibit includes a timely photograph of the Greater Sage Grouse, an iconic bird of the western US. The US Forest Service has recently announced a move to change Greater Sage Grouse protections. This will open up the bird's currently protected habitats on public lands to oil and gas development.
You can see these photographs at the B&C Camera Hub Gallery, 4511 W. Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas, from October 1st to the 31st. Call the store for hours. If you or your organization would like to host this exhibit please contact Nancy Chang at socialactivities@redrockaudubon.com.
