Red Rock Audubon Wins Grant From National Audubon Society for Local Native Plant Project Supported by the National Audubon Society’s Coleman and Susan Burke Center for Native Plants Red Rock Audubon announced today that it has won a grant to implement a native plants project in Discovery Park, Pahrump, NV. The grant process was highly competitive and Red Rock Audubon was one of 35 awardees out of 85 applications. This phase of the project will be to plant 25 additional new trees, a second 5,000 square foot native pollinator garden and install a portion of the permanent irrigation system.
Native plants in the desert are important for several reasons: they require less water, they are more adaptable to the climate, are easier to grow and provide food and habitat for wildlife. Richard Cantino
