The Las Vegas community was treated to a free, fun family event celebrating our amazing birds on Sunday November 18th at Sunset Park. The warm sunny weather brought out many people to walk the park and enjoy the many birds in the lake. Red Rock Audubon was on hand to spread the word that our organization contributes much to educate the public on our urban bird habitat. At our booth, thanks to the efforts of Jeanne Andrew, Lidija Baker, Mike Baker and Nancy Chang, children enjoyed playing Bird Twister while they learned about local birds and adults learned about our organization. Doug Chang set up a spotting scope to help the public view and identify birds in the park.
Some Red Rock Audubon members were there to support other organizations. The event was organized by Crystalaura Jackson of Clark County Parks and Recreation. Liz LaRue and Jim Boone of Bird and Hike also set up a spotting scope to engage the public. Len Warren and Molly Hansen of The Nature Conservancy of Nevada helped children decorate tee shirts with birds. Red Rock Audubon is fortunate to have members who are deeply involved with many conservation-minded organizations and we are always happy to support each other's efforts.
