Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge is a critical area for birds migrating through southern Nevada. Many RRAS members have visited this gem in the desert more than once and enjoyed the variety of bird species that can be found there at different times of the year.

The pipeline system is "expected to improve wetland management capabilities and reduce water loss from the existing earthen ditch system."
